Measuring

The app does not record a time

Why is a time missing although I was fast?

GhostShift only records times that GPS and the motion sensor confirm together. This keeps impossible numbers out of your leaderboard. A short GPS dropout during a run is enough to discard it.

What is the 1-foot rollout?

On drag strips the clock starts after the first foot (30 cm) of movement, which makes your times comparable with factory and magazine figures. You can switch it off in Setup.

Why does my iPhone get warm?

While recording, GPS runs at its highest precision and the display stays on — in a car often together with charging and sun behind the windscreen. That warms any iPhone and is harmless. That's why the cockpit shows a light animation instead of the live map by default. When iOS reports the phone as hot, GhostShift pauses all effects by itself; measuring continues. A mount in the airflow, no direct sun and no wireless charging while driving help most. Cooler still: Setup › Measuring rate › Relaxed.

Which measuring rate should I pick?

Standard (20 Hz) for every day — the road-tested setup. Maximum (50 Hz) for launch and drag runs, uses the most energy. Relaxed (10 Hz, lighter GPS) for long drives and hot days; launch times get a little less precise.

Start lights & duel

How do the start lights work?

Tap LIGHTS at the bottom of the cockpit and come to a stop. Five red lights come on one by one, after a random pause they all go out: go. GhostShift shows your reaction time, your 0-60 / 0-100 time and the total from the lights. Leave too early and it's a jump start.

How do I start a duel?

Two iPhones, both with GhostShift: tap + › Battle on both. One challenges, the other accepts. Both cars stop side by side, then the challenger starts the shared lights. The iPhones connect directly via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, no internet needed. Challenging needs Pro, accepting is free. Closed courses only.

The other iPhone isn't found

Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on both iPhones (no network connection needed), allow local network access the first time and keep the duel screen open on both.

Badges

Badges reward special moments: quick launches, big G-forces, reaction times, duels, night drives and more. They only count on real drives, not in demo mode. Find them all on the trophies tab — tap a badge to see how to earn it.

Apple Watch

Install the watch app from the Watch app on your iPhone (Available apps › GhostShift). Swipe up and down on the watch: speed, start lights (every lamp taps your wrist) and G-forces. The iPhone always does the measuring; the watch displays and can start recording and the lights.

Lap times

Drive at least two complete laps of the same course. After saving, GhostShift finds the start/finish line by itself and shows the laps in the session view. Single loops in normal traffic deliberately do not count as laps.

OBD2 adapters

GhostShift Pro

Free, subscription or one-time?

The free version stays usable forever: live cockpit, 0-50 and 0-100 km/h, start lights, badges, your last three sessions, the Midnight Tokyo design, recording and sharing. Pro unlocks everything (every measurement, all eleven designs with colour schemes, challenging a duel), either yearly (with a 3-day free trial, once per Apple ID) or as a one-time lifetime purchase.

Cancel a subscription

iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions › GhostShift, or in the app under Setup › Manage subscription. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged; cancel later and Pro keeps working until the end of the paid year.

Move your purchase to a new iPhone

In the app, tap Restore purchases under Setup › GhostShift Pro. Pro is tied to your Apple ID.

Refunds

Apple handles all purchases. Request a refund directly from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Data & backup

Your data lives only on your iPhone. For a new device: Setup › Backup › Export backup file, AirDrop it to the new iPhone and import it there. More in the privacy policy.

Safety

Measurements, start lights and duels belong on closed private grounds and race tracks, with the operator's permission. On public roads the traffic laws apply: keep to speed limits, drive carefully and don't be tempted — street racing is illegal and dangerous. Never operate the app while driving. You drive at your own risk. The full safety notice is in the app under Setup › Safety notice.
